For PC gamers, you can't argue the merits of digital distribution stores like Steam. Considering the generous amount of sales that occur every year as well as the convenience of being able to shop for a game regardless of location and availability (barring regional restrictions, of course), putting up with long download times and DRM seems reasonable.
Then there's Datablitz, a brick-and-mortar store that I'm sure many (all?) Filipino gamers are familiar with. For about 18 years now has the local retailer been servicing the needs of gamers in the Philippines, and the emergence of digital distribution hasn't slowed it down one bit.
One thing's for sure, however. Whether you're a fan of physical feelies or a disciple of digital distribution, you always want the best bang for your buck. Sometimes that can mean spending precious time shopping around, looking for the most delicious deal.
We know what that feels like, so we've taken it upon ourselves to help out where we can. We've prepared a list (it's a Google Spreadsheet, actually) of PC games that can be found in Datablitz on the front shelves, collected their prices, and compared them with prices for their online counterparts. We prioritize Steam because it's what we use, but if a better deal can be found elsewhere or the game just isn't available on Steam, we've noted that down too.
We even went ahead and estimated the savings (or loss!) you'd take if choosing to buy from Datablitz versus online. In some cases it's very large. For example, did you know that if you just bought the base game of Skyrim from Datablitz, you'd pay about $2.30 more than on Steam, but if you got the Legendary Edition you'd be saving almost $20.00?
