These are the worst kinds of impassable barriers. In videogames you're often controlling a character with powers or equipment that make absolutely anything possible, yet you're still confined to a specific area by little more than a piece of tape, or a bush, or a vehicle boom.
Seriously I'd rather be blocked by an invisible wall.
